Remaining morning free to rest in your hotel in order to avoid altitude sickness In the afternoon,01:30pm we will visit the City of Cusco on a guided sightseeing tour visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. Then, we drive out of the City to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco, famous for its enormous carved stones, some of them standing over 9 m / 30 ft high and weighing over 350 tons.
Meals Included: Dinner
Breakfast. Full-day excursion to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, by the Vilcanota River. We will have the opportunity to share closely the peasants’ customs and bargain with vendors at the typical indian market of Pisac, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Lunch in a local countryside restaurant.
After lunch, passing through the Towns of Calca and Urubamba, we visit the Inca
Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the
Valley, and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the Lower jungle. The Fortress consists of a series of stepped carved stone terraces accessed by long staircases. Later on you can walk through the quaint streets of the nearby Town, and get a good idea of what this Strategic Military, Religious, and Agricultural Centre was like during the era of the Inca Empire.
Meals Included: Breakfast and lunch
Our trek today takes us along the most impressive stretch of the Inca Trail. We’ll visit beautiful Inca sites , see a variety of flora and fauna and get to take in the fantastic panoramas of the Andes mountains. Covering 10km of the trail our journey begins in the Sacred Valley and works it’s way up along an original Inca Trail to the Inca site of Winay Wayna before continuing on to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
As we make our way to Machu Picchu we’ll pass through the lush and verdant cloud forest that covers the mountain and get to see a variety of plants, flowers and birds along the way. We may also see some larger mammals such as Viscachas (rabbit-like Chinchillas) and Spectacled Bears (if we are very lucky). After a full days trekking we’ll arrive to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) in the late afternoon and get our first views of Machu Picchu spread out on the mountain below. The light at this time of day is great for photos and with fewer tourists in the site it’s a perfect time to take some pictures of the site. After we’ve passed through the Sun Gate we’ll carry on along the trail a little way before taking a side trail that leads us to Aguas Calientes in the valley below where we’ll check in to our hotel.
Meals included: 1 Box Lunch, 1 Dinner 1 Breakfast 1 Luch Hotel 1 Night
Waking up early we’ll take the first bus back up to Machu Picchu to enter the site as it opens. We’ll have a 2 hour guided tour of the site during which you’ll learn about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of the citadel. After your tour you’ll have free time to explore the site by yourself and if you have permits to climb either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. In the afternoon you will take the train back to Poroy from where you will carry on by bus back to Cusco.

What They’re Saying
EXCELLENT Based on 19 reviews Posted on Priscilla MVerified Excelente Una muy buena experiencia, fueron muy puntuales, el guia conocia demasiado, nos explicaba muy bien y siempre atentos a nosotros!Posted on Maria FVerified ¡Nos encantó este viaje! ¡Mi esposo y yo recomendamos mucho Amazon Andes Perú! Posted on Andrzej JVerified ¡Guías increíbles! Posted on 540MichaVerified Hike Inca Trail with Amazon Andes Peru - they are brilliant! We did the 4 day Inca Trail hike with Amazon Andes Peru based on a recommendation from a friend and we feel duty-bound to pass on the word! Communication with the company before travelling was smooth and efficient. They respond well to email and are happy to answer questions. They hold a pre-trek briefing the night before which was very valuable and they gave advice about a few things we hadn't thought of so we had time to nip out and pick up a few things before setting off.The staff are very professional - on time, knowledgeable and honest. We thoroughly enjoyed the trek. They looked after the whole group very well HIRE AN ADDITIONAL PORTER. They work extremely hard and you won't regret it. We shared half a porter each so that we only had to carry a day bag. This decision allowed us to enjoy a trek, where as it would have been a real struggle without the porter to carry our sleeping bag etc. Even if you are fit, we still recommend this. The food with Amazon Andes Peru is really excellent - hot food for every meal. Well balanced, healthy and delicious. Our 3 top tips:1) Get a porter2) Take/hire walking poles3) Take wet weather gear (even in the dry season!)Posted on Cui GVerified ¡es una gran experiencia!
